INTRODUCTION
Started in march 1996 with this inventory.
I am interested in every Townes song covered by another artist that there is on earth.
Besides finding the info, I also try to collect the songs, buying the records, CD's or tapes.
In case they are out of print, private recordings or too hard to find at the moment I am asking
the owners of the original recordings for a taped copy of the TVZ song. Most of the songs
listed below are in my collection (except where indicated).
A friend of mine once said that I am building a monument for Townes. I like to see it that way.
With the help of Townes fans all over the world I was able to find 18 new covers the last four months.
A great catch!!
Three years of research brought me to 301 cover versions of Townes' songs. THERE ARE MORE.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Maybe some of you have access to taped Tribute Shows.

Finally I found The Stonemans version of 'I'll Be Here In The Morning'
(093). Strange enough I found it twice (after looking for it from 1996).
One I found myself in a Nashville Recordstore. The other one was offered by
Larry from 'TexasTurntable' at Lubbock. Maybe he still have it. Info:

Kevin Johnson and The Linemen did 'Buckskin Stallion Blues' on a 1996
cassette that was not easy to find. Now it is also on his 1997 CD 'Parole
Music' (053b), that is basically the same as the cassette, minor changes in
songs and order.
One of the best singer-songwriters Richard Shindell (listen to his albums
'Sparrows Point' and 'Blue Divide') recorded 'I'll Be There In The Morning'
on his new CD 'Reunion Hill' (089).
Then there is 'George's Bar' from Pat Green (1997) with 'Snowing On Raton'
(043) on it.
The Walkabouts /Gary Heffern version of 'Sanatorium Blues' (100)is
finally released officially. I have been told that nobody at Virgin's knew
that the CD existed. The guy who was responsable for this mistake is fired.
The 4 song CD is now available. It's a great version of a great song, to my
opinion (as is the rest of the songs, if you appreciate The Walkabouts).
I changed the source of 'At My Window' as done by Townes and Ostbahn Kurti

I added 8 newly found items to the list.
Singer-songwriter David Elias send me a tape of his rehearsals for the new
album, including 'Waiting Around To Die' (114). Carl Edwards put three
songs on a DAT-tape for me: (122),(123) & (124). I am very thankful to both
artists for doing me this favor.
A third version of 'Kathleen' by Tindersticks showed up. As soon as I can
recall the label and number I will add it to the list (095). Thanks to
Rodney.
Rodney also send me a tape with 'To Live Is To Fly as done by Guy Clark
(109) at Fine Line Music Cafe, Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 11th 1997.
Again a beautiful rendition, as ever.
The long awaited Walkabouts/Heffern version of 'Sanatorium Blues' is
finally released (098) as part of a 4 song CD single.

I added a special 'chapter' for this one. There were more songs done during

I received the 'Levon Helm with The Woodstock AllStars' Live in
Woodstock-tape with 'Pancho & Lefty' on it. This was another Pancho. (091
on List from 10/16/96, now removed)
While in NYC I was finally able to find (great shop:'Other Records' on East
4th Street/Lafayette) 'Coin Of The Realm' the Paul K. & Weathermen 10"
Vinyl EP. TVZ's 'Marie' was mentioned on the linernotes of the sleeve, but
was not on the record. Is there someone who can help me with this. (092, on
list of 10/16/96, now set aside).
